I’ve been looking at the effectiveness of FaceBook in the real world and have had to decide that, for many aspects of life, it is not effective at all.
Trawling through FB, I see massive support for Ron Paul and yet this support does not translate into votes. Despite what would seem to be a massive and vocal following, Ron Paul is the invisible man and even he accepts that his chances of winning th…e nomination are slim to non-existent.
Why is this?
It is because FB has replaced the chats over the garden wall. It has replaced the check-out queue conversation. It has replaced the plethora of opinion forming gossip sources that our parents and grand parents used to formulate their own arguments and beliefs. FB has destroyed the diminished art of conversation by encouraging silly, small minded individuals to believe in their own faultless rectitiude and to resort to pathetic and childish verbal tantrums should anybody ever challenge what they say.
FB support for Ron Paul goes no further than cyberspace. The few thousand active Ron Paul supporters, those who give their support by attending his rallies and getting his message to the streets, are simply over-whelmed by the brute force of bought legions supporting his opposition. The support for Ron Paul on FB is all second hand. I have not seen one person who has expressed a personal argument for supporting him. Every post is the work of somebody else – how many times will you watch the same video or read the same article (even if the post title attempts to make you believe it is different!)? FB support for Ron paul is all top dressing. It lacks conviction. Those of us watching America trying to destroy the world can detect no true emotion, nor can the media trying to give Ron Paul a fair shake.
Just as the support or Ron Paul is tenuous, so are the claims of many to accept Jesus.
I have deliberately stopped responding to most posts because I could see the vitriol dripping from the fangs of the evil serpents claiming Christian ideology.
It staggers me that a Christian who has cursed me as a Satan worshipper and nominee for the front row in Hell, should not do his/her level best (duty?) to rescue me from myself and save my soul. After all, isn’t that one of their Christian life objectives?
No, I can almost see the smug, self satified smirks as they retract their fangs and assure themselves that “that told him!”
Of course. These FaceBook Christians are like FaceBook Ron Paul supporters. They will comment on the posts of others, share what they believe are clever Christian quotes or the Swami-like pronouncements of their Christian gurus but they will do nothing to promote Christianity in the real world.
