What a huge disappointment FaceBook is.
I was assured that the membership had matured but it has, if anything, become even more conformist and bland than it was before.
Why do people post controversial topics without having the necessary knowledge or opinion to enter into a discussion about them? Come to that, why are they incapable of arguing in support of the attitude to the topic that the post would infer?
It is so sad to see important topics dismissed by comments like “Ooh lovely” or “Jesus will sort it out”. It is mind boggling that adults find that a suitable response to something they do not like or understand is to shout, swear and be abusive. It is breath-taking that there is only a “like” button. Maybe the FaceBook owners realise that they could be sued if anybody had the dread misfortune to be psychologically damaged by someone NOT liking a post? It seems that the real world of real grown ups is not really appreciated.
Worst of all is the sad lack of original thought. The vast majority of posts appear to be the work of others, videos from YouTube or simple shares. Why are so many people incapable of formulating, stating and defending an opinion of their own?
What is it that so terrifies them if someone says “Aah, but . . . “? An army that withdraws is not making a strategic move, it is running away. An army that is not armed is just a crowd travelling in the same direction to the beat of a single drum. When they get to their destination, one man with the right weapon can control them.
FaceBook is a reasonable notice board and that is just about all.
