Despite the many reservations of responsible marketers, the number of sheeple who are continuing to buy into mobile marketing seems to be growing. The arrogance of these people, not to mention the sheer effrontary, goes well beyond anything I have seen from marketers before.
Although this form of marketing is not wide-spread in Europe (yet), those of us who have fallen foul of this latest abuse of personal services are already sick and tired of stupid offers from even more stupid wannabe marketers.
My mobile phone is used as a point of contact for people who need my services (in the medical field) urgently, so it has to be published.
It is bad enough receiving stupid adverts but what the advertisers do not realise is that I HAVE TO PAY TO RECEIVE THEIR JUNK! There are many mobile providers who seem to recognise these SMS type adverts and that they have not been paid the going rate for transmitting them. I am told this is the reason I have to pay to receive them – and I can’t NOT receive them (they never seem to come from another mobile phone, which would be easy to block).
Hopefully a track-back system will be put in place that will block the sending station of professional spammers or the IP addresses of arrogant internet marketers. Experience tells me that the mobile providers will not rush since they have a new source of passive income and the sheeple will not desist because they are too stupid to see the damage that they are doing and have a long history of fouling their own nests
